The REAL Memorial Day...

A peek on what the Design Department is doing for MD.
Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in service of the United States of America.

Memorial Day was born out of the Civil War and a desire to honor our dead.

It is commemorated on the last Monday of May with Congressional passage of the National Holiday Act of 1971 (P.L. 90 – 363). This helped ensure a three day weekend for Federal holidays.

It is - we believe - a day of silence, respect, insight and honor.

But what it has been reduced to?

Just look the trending topics and will see Memorial Day related hashtags with activities of partying and enjoyment.

It is ok to do some activities outside the spirit of what the day represents. But a famous DJ making a party that weekend and promoting it whith this commemoration seems a little outrageous. Let´s considerate for a moment that there are families and friends who did lost someone on war.
